5 ways to use your branding that you haven’t thought of yet

You’ve put your branding in all the usual places – on your website, social media profiles and printed materials – but don’t stop there!

There are so many more ways to use your branding that will help to build awareness and infuse your brand personality into everything you do.

Start by looking at everything your organisation puts out into the world, both physically and digitally, and ask yourself: Will somebody looking at this be able to connect it to my brand?

If the answer is no, that’s great! You’ve found an untapped branding opportunity and a new way to engage with your audience. Need some ideas to get you started? Here are 5 creative ways to use your branding that you (probably) haven’t thought of yet.

Emails

Many of us send dozens of emails a day, and all that communication is an often-overlooked avenue for branding. Use your email signature to full effect by incorporating your logo and buttons linking to your website and social media platforms; if your organisation has a tagline, add that in there too.

Most email platforms also provide templates or layouts, which you can customise with brand images, fonts and colours to build a truly coherent style for your emails. And remember, every email is an opportunity: even confirmation emails and automated reminders can benefit from a sprinkle of your brand voice and a touch of visual branding.

Forms

Whether you’re sending out surveys, gathering customer data or asking for feedback, your organisation probably uses forms – but they don’t have to be boring! Do you have relevant images you can use as backgrounds, or to break up lists of questions? Can you incorporate your brand voice into how you write wordier questions? Have you styled your form using your brand’s font and colours?

Infusing your forms with your brand’s personality will help to build recognition and make the form-filling process a little less boring. I really recommend Typeform for this; it’s an easy way to design appealing, user-friendly forms your audience will actually enjoy filling in.

Event banners

Make a visual impact at any event by using a physical banner to represent your brand. If you nail the message of your banner, and invest in one made from long-lasting materials like fabric or vinyl, you will be able to use it again and again.

The key to a good banner is that it should be eye-catching and convey a simple message, quickly – so use your brand colours, a relevant, high-quality image and large text in your brand font. Try to communicate who you are and what you do in as few words as possible (bullet points are your friend), and don’t forget to include information about how people can contact you.

Social media assets

You’re probably already running social media accounts for your organisation – but did you know that you can make customised digital brand assets to use on these platforms? Instagram has a function that will let you create branded stickers to use on your Stories, and you can make them public so that your audience can use them too.

Branded gifs are also brilliantly shareable, whatever social media platform you use. Repurpose your existing content (e.g. promotional videos, images, logos) into gif form using any of the countless gif makers available online.

Then use them on your social media posts or in replies to audience comments as a cute, quick way to convey your brand’s personality!

Street art

Printed materials aren’t the only way for people to see your brand – why not take to the streets and turn your brand into art? There are all sorts of temporary and sustainable ways to add your logo to a building or pavement, perhaps for an event or at a pop-up location. Draw your logo in chalk, or make stencils and use eco-friendly, washable spray paint.

Get your hands on a mini projector and light up the walls with a custom image, or use biodegradable floor stickers that you can peel up as soon as you’re done. There are so many ways to get the world to see your logo!
