Augarde Design
2022 in Review

Hello 2023.

January, while not my favourite month, can be a great time for introspection and learning. I like to do a review of the year past, and  I thought I would share some of the highlights.

As I’m well into year two of running my freelance graphic design business full-time, I have some sweet year-on-year stats too.

Clients and coaching

In 2022 I sent 113 invoices, to 31 clients. In 2021 this was a paltry 62 invoices, to 25 clients, so clearly things are moving in the right direction!

I also enjoyed 21 hours of creative coaching with a few different coaches, including Sarah Buckland, The Daring Designers Club and Nina Eggenswho I all highly recommend.

I can feel a definite increase in confidence over the last year, and that’s in no small part due to all the business coaching I undertook.

Sector breakdown

My aim at the beginning of the year was to work as a freelance graphic designers more with third sector and not-for-profit organisations – both locally in Bristol, and across the UK.

I’m pleased to say I achieved this, with the vast majority of my clients now coming from this sector.

Clients with shared ethical values are very important to me, who are making a positive impact. I hope I can continue this trend into 2023!

What else went well

  • Increased confidence in my business as a freelancer and creative
  • Launched new visual brand and website
  • Used time tracking app Toggle for the whole year, which was helpful in seeing trends and where time was being lost

Overall, it’s been a really positive year for Augarde Design – and I’m excited for what 2023 will bring!
